The Novo 4 Mini is also—as the name suggests—smaller than the Novo 4. It’s not a massive difference, but you’ll definitely notice it’s lighter and takes up less space in your hand if you’re already familiar with that device. There’s also no display screen on this model.
Other than that, the Novo 4 Mini looks pretty similar to the Novo 4. The patterns and colour schemes are bright, bold, and modern-looking, which is what we’ve come to expect from this series over the years.

Another nice feature of the SMOK Novo 4 Mini is that it uses USB-C charging—allowing you to fill up its 900mAh battery in 90 minutes or less. USB-C charge cables are fast becoming the norm with high-quality new vaping devices, so this isn’t totally surprising to us. Still, it’s nice to see that SMOK’s not cutting corners or falling behind the times (not that we’d expect them to).
Preparing the Pod in the SMOK Novo 4 Mini
The pod for the SMOK Novo 4 Mini has a rubber plug on the side that you’ll need to take out in order to pour in your chosen e-liquid. Just push it back in after you’ve filled up the pod—pretty simple stuff!
The coil is easy to pop in and out with your fingers as well. It’s magnetised and designed so that it can’t be misaligned; it’ll only go back in the way it’s meant to be installed. Once it’s in, the magnets keep it where it needs to be, which helps prevent leaking.
Once you’ve filled the pod and put your coil in (if it’s your first time, the coil’s pre-installed so you don’t have to worry about that part), leave the pod for 5-10 minutes to ensure that the coil gets properly saturated. Then you can insert the pod into the top of the device and get started vaping!

There’s an airflow control wheel on the side of the device that’s very similar to the ones SMOK has used on other devices in the past. By placing your fingernail in the recess within the wheel and pulling, you can adjust the amount of air flowing through the mouthpiece to find the level that works for you.
With the wheel fully open, the Novo 4 Mini allows for restricted DTL vaping—and when closed, it’s possible to enjoy slightly loose MTL vaping as well.

The battery here is a full 100mAh larger than the one found in the Novo 4. Interestingly, though, the power output range on the Novo 4 Mini is narrower: the Mini goes from 6-20 watts, while the Novo 4 goes from 5-25 watts.
What does that mean from a practical standpoint? If you’re vaping moderately, you can expect the Novo 4 Mini to last for most of the day without needing to recharge it. The throat hit is pretty satisfying too, making this a great little device to enjoy on day trips or longer outings.
