First Impressions of the UWell Caliburn GK2 Device

The first thing you’ll notice about the GK2 is that it looks quite different from other Caliburn series devices. In fact, its appearance is much more similar to that of the Koko Prime, with its buttonless ergonomic square design. However, there are a few visual elements that make it clear this is a different device: the interactive light bars on the curved glass panels are a neat touch that instantly gives this a cool cyberpunk-inspired look.

Those light bars actually shine at different times when you’re using the device—letting you know when voltage is low, the circuit is open, and more. We’ll talk more about that when we get around to our experience of using the GK2.

The GK2 is also compatible with the Caliburn G2 Replacement Pod. There are two versions of this pod, each with a non-removable coil—it comes in 0.8ohm or 1.2ohm options.

Since the first two of those are included in the kit, you’ll have a fair amount of control over your experience right out of the box. But it’s nice to know you can have even more if you want.

Charging the UWell Caliburn GK2 for the First Time

UWell is obviously a brand that cares about staying competitive, so it’s no surprise that they designed this device to use a USB-C charging cable. Most high-quality devices offer USB-C charging now. In the Caliburn GK2’s case, this allows you to bring its 690mAh battery from totally dead to usable in just 30 minutes.

Preparing the Pod in the UWell Caliburn GK2

The 2ml e-liquid pods in the GK2 are easy to fill and install. Just like previous Caliburn models, the pods are fillable from the top (even with the pods still installed in the device) and have a generous window so you can view the juice inside.

There’s an air release valve as well, which helps prevent you from overfilling the pods. Little touches like these help explain why UWell has become such a dependable brand for so many vaping enthusiasts and people transitioning away from traditional tobacco products—this is obviously a company that cares deeply about the experience users have with their products.

Just like with other pod systems, you’ll want to leave your pod alone for 5-10 minutes after filling it up with a new coil inside. This allows the e-liquid to saturate the coil properly and prevents premature burnout.

Okay, ready? Now it’s time to start vaping with the GK2.

Using the UWell Caliburn GK2 Vape Device

The UWell Caliburn GK2 is a direct draw device (in case its total lack of buttons wasn’t a dead giveaway). Here’s what you need to know about using it:

UWell Caliburn GK2 Airflow Controls

The Caliburn GK2 lets you customize airflow with a small wheel built into the pod. By playing with this feature, you can configure the GK2 to support either MTL or r-DTL vaping—making it a fairly versatile little device.

UWell Caliburn GK2 Device Battery Life & Performance

690mAh isn’t huge for a battery in a compact pod system—but with an output of 18W, it’s enough to last for around seven hours. That gives you plenty of time to enjoy your favourite salt nic e-liquid flavours. Personally, we’re big fans of Ice by Suavae, Blue Raspberry by Lemon Drop, and Double Barrel by Blackwood.

As for using the GK2, it’s a simple and straightforward experience—much more so than its futuristic design might suggest. We do enjoy seeing the bars on the side light up to give us different signals, though. The bars will glow to indicate:

  • Low voltage
  • An open circuit
  • Overtime use
  • Cartridge installation

UWell Caliburn GK2 Device Key Features

Here are the vital specs for the Caliburn GK2:

  • Dimensions: 72.2mm x 46.6mm x 16.3mm
  • Battery Capacity: 690mAh
  • Output: 18W
  • e-Liquid Volume: 2ml
  • Charge Type: USB-C

UWell Caliburn GK2 Device Price

There’s more good news when it comes to the price of the GK2, which is less expensive than both the Caliburn G2 and the Koko Prime. Since the GK2 is essentially a combination of these devices that offers the best of both worlds, we call this a pretty worthwhile bargain on a great vape.
