Summary of Key Points:
- The UWell Crown X has a modern design with an aluminum alloy body for durability.
- Setup for the Crown X is easy—just remove the plug to fill the pod with e-liquid, and charge it via USB-C cable in less than an hour.
- This device is particularly excellent for RDL and DTL vaping, although you can use it for MTL as well with the supplied 0.3Ω coil.
- Key features include a max power output of 60W, a 3.3mL refillable pod, adjustable airflow, a TFT color screen, and dual firing modes (manual and auto-draw).
- The 1500mAh battery is enough for a day of light to medium use. Strongly recommended if you’re looking for big power in a small pod system.
Some people say cloud-chasing is only for sub-ohm devices. Those people may be liars.
It all comes down to whether UWell’s Crown X performs as advertised—is this a pocket-sized cloud production machine that will turn you into Puff the Magic Dragon, or a case of marketing gone wildly off-course? Stick around and find out with this hands-on review from the U Vape team.

First Impressions of the Crown X
Look & Feel
First thing we noticed about this device is that it feels robust in a different way than most other pod systems. While we wouldn’t recommend flinging it against a wall, the aluminium alloy used in the chassis feels more than sturdy enough to withstand an accidental drop or two from standing height.
No leather grips here like you see with some pod devices, but the available colour schemes are pretty nice—Forest Dawn and Sunrise Sky are two of our favourites, but there’s also Red, Green, Blue, or Black (which we reviewed) if your tastes run more straightforward.
In terms of the layout, it’s an interesting choice to put the fire button on the front of the device and above the screen, instead of on the side—but since you’re not going to look at the screen during a hit anyway, this probably doesn’t matter much.
Device Setup
Easy peasy, lemon (drop) squeezy in this department. Just pull out the pod, pop out the filler plug from the side, and fill it with your e-juice of choice.
Charging is pretty standard for a USB-C device this size. It’ll take you a bit less than an hour to reach full battery. Once you’re done there, you’re good to go.
As far as using the controls go, there’s a nice little feature here we want to mention as well—the Crown X lets you lock both of the firing mechanisms individually. Press the fire button twice in a row to lock auto draw, another two times to lock manual firing, and two times to unlock it again. You can also press the button four times in quick succession to reset your puff count.
At a Glance:
- The device feels strong and the different colours look great.
- Control layout differs from some other pod systems but isn’t a big deal.
- Filling the pod is easy and charging the battery is pretty much what you’d expect.
Using the Crown X
Flavour Profile & Strength
There’s plenty of flavour to enjoy with this device, even on lower power settings. In fact, our favourite place to hit this vape is around 40w with the 0.3Ω coil, since it gets pretty hot past that point. But that’s not to say you can’t dial up the power if you want to—just be prepared.
For e-liquids, you’re going to want salt nic e-juice for the 0.6Ω coil and freebase e-juice for the 0.3Ω coil. It really depends on your style.

Draw Quality
This thing isn’t really for MTL vapers—we’ll get that out of the way right now. Yes, you can get an MTL hit off the 0.6Ω coil with the power down around 20-25W, but RDL and DTL vaping is where this thing really shines.
The RDL experience offered by the Crown X is good, but the DTL experience is nothing short of incredible for a pod system. Even 30w on the 0.3Ω coil is enough to blow some serious clouds, and when you crank that up to full power, anyone around you is going to think a heavy fog rolled in.
Airflow is adjustable for this device as well, which will especially help you during RDL and help you get a better taste.
Longevity
The 1500 mAh battery in the Crown X isn’t exactly huge by pod system standards, but it’s enough to last you a day or so of light-to-medium use. You’ll probably get less if you’re hitting your vape all the time, but that’s to be expected. We do kind of wish you got a bigger battery to go with all that e-liquid capacity in the pod, though.
At a Glance:
- Use salt nic e-juice for the 0.6Ω coil and freebase for the 0.3Ω coil.
- This vape’s best for RDL and DTL (although you can use it for MTL as well if you want).
- The battery could be a little bigger to match the pod capacity, but it’s not bad.
Should You Buy the Crown X?
Probably—if only so you can say that you own a pod system with a maximum power output of 60W. That’s a lot for a small device, and it really shows when you’re using it for DTL vaping. Top marks for both taste and vapor production in that department.
While not the best MTL device we’ve ever tried, the Crown X also offers enough functionality to let you use it that way. Overall, it’s a system you should get tremendously excited about if you’re looking for big clouds from a small vape, and it’s still pretty good by any other standard.
Nice to meet you, Puff.
